Why You Need This: Never thought we would be so excited to discuss motorcycle batteries, but after years of dealing with garbage batteries that never quite hold a charge right and fail at the worst time possible we are happy to be offering this top quality AGM replacement motorcycle battery for your vintage Honda CB or CL Scrambler.
We have tried all kinds of batteries over the years and hands down this AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat) battery is the best one that we have seen to date. Lead acid batteries, while readily available are ancient technology and tend to not hold up; we regularly see them fail in less than a year (sometimes as short as six weeks) dependent on quality and how the battery was activated and initially charged.
Our Honda replacement motorcycle battery is a sealed unit and comes pre-charged and ready to use straight out of the box. Every battery is built with variable terminal design meaning that it will fit any configuration of wiring on your Honda CB175 / CB350 / CB360 / CB450 / CB550 or CB750. Additionally the terminals are brass and feature stainless steel hardware to keep things from getting corroded over time. The battery will fit the factory mounting boxes on all CB175 / CB350 / CB360 / CB450 / CB550 or CB750 families of motorcycle and are completely compatible with the charging system.
Small AGM Battery (#3180) Note: We have been testing this 8 AH smaller Motobatt battery on our vintage Honda motorcycles and have found it to be a rock-solid. It has all of the modern technology our normal size Motobatt AGM batteries have at around 60% of the size. With its dimensions being 4.49" Wide x 2.76" deep x 5.04" tall its the perfect choice for your cafe racer and scrambler project. It can even reliably turn over your electric starter without the drawbacks of a lithium-ion in your custom build.
Speaking of which, do yourself a favor and upgrade your voltage regulator and rectifier and the charging system will be solid for years to come.
Installation Tip: Clean the terminals on your bike with a wire brush to make sure there is no corrosion causing a poor connection. When installing a battery connect the positive terminal (red) first then the negative (black) second. Disconnect in the reverse order. This order prevents a short circuit from happening while installing or removing the battery for service.
Warranty Info: Warranty is 90 day AS IS from date of purchase or 24 months with a MotoBatt charger purchase.
While these MotoBatt AGM batteries are the best you can get, but they will need some help to live a long healthy life. It is common to get 3 to 4 years out of one of these batteries when properly maintained. It is important to remember that a battery is a "bucket of electrons" and not an "electric power plant." Thus having the proper charger to keep it topped off when parked for long periods (1 month or longer) is highly recommended. Battery charger technology has changed to match the modern batteries, as old style "trickle" chargers designed for lead acid batteries can actually damage your AGM battery. Common Motor is happy to extend the warranty of your batteries if you purchase a corresponding MotoBatt charger and use it on a regular basis to keep your battery topped off.
