Clear Poly Fuel Line (5.5mm) for Vintage Honda Motorcycles
This is a 3-foot length of clear polyurethane fuel line with a 5.5mm inner diameter — the Honda factory specification for carburetor and petcock barb connections on CT90, CB175, CB200, CB350, CB360, CB450, CB500T, and CB550-family motorcycles. It is made in the USA and specifically formulated for fuel and oil transfer. This is not the same as clear vinyl tubing from a hardware store, which cracks and deteriorates over time.
Why 5.5mm Matters
Most fuel line sold at auto parts and hardware stores is 1/4-inch (6mm) inner diameter. That 0.5mm difference means hardware store line fits loose on Honda carburetor and petcock barbs, requiring clamps just to hold on and still risking leaks. The Honda specification is 5.5mm, and this fuel line is made to that dimension so it grips the barbs tightly for a positive seal.
What You Get
One 3-foot length of clear polyurethane fuel line with an extra-thick wall for durability and kink resistance. The clear material lets you visually inspect fuel flow and spot debris or air bubbles. For most twin-cylinder Hondas (CT90, CB350, CB360, CB450, CB500T), 3 feet is enough to plumb both carburetors and a tank crossover tube. For four-cylinder models (CB350F, CB400F, CB500, CB550, CB750) or bikes with long routing, you may need two lengths.

CB175 / CL175 / CB200 Owners: Check Your Size
The 175 and 200 twins use either this 5.5mm fuel line or a smaller 4.5mm fuel line depending on the year and connection point. See the details below.
- Tank crossover line: CB175 K4–K7, CL175, SL175, CB200, and CL200 all use this 5.5mm fuel line for the tank crossover. The CB175 K3 used a 4.5mm fuel line for the crossover.
- Petcock-to-carb line: CB175 K0, CB175 K4–K7, SL175, CB200, and CL175 K3 use a 4.5mm fuel line for the petcock-to-carburetor connections.
- Varies by petcock: CB175 K3, CL175 K4–K7, and CL200 could use either 4.5mm or 5.5mm for the petcock-to-carb connection. Measure the outer diameter (OD) of the widest part of the brass fuel outlet on your petcock. If the OD is about 6mm, use a 4.5mm fuel line. If the OD is about 7mm, use this 5.5mm fuel line.
Installation Tips
- Use a tubing cutter to cut ends as close to 90 degrees as possible for a clean seal.
- Start at the carburetors when running fresh lines and route up to the petcock before cutting. Leave lines a bit longer so there is room to trim the ends the next few times you remove the gas tank.
- A tiny drop of oil on the barbs helps seat the line during installation. The fuel will wash it away.
- Add squeeze-style hose clamps for a positive seal, especially on connections that will be disconnected for service.
CT90 / Trail 90 Fuel Line Routing
Unlike most vintage Hondas, the CT90 has its petcock built into the carburetor — not on the fuel tank. The fuel lines run from the tank through the frame cavity and out to the carburetor. The right-side outlet is reserve; the left side is main. Replacing the fuel lines requires removing the spine cover, muffler, and battery to access the frame interior. For the full step-by-step process, watch the video below or read the CT90 fuel line replacement guide in our Knowledge Base.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this the same as the clear vinyl tubing at the hardware store?
No. Hardware store vinyl tubing is not rated for fuel and will crack, yellow, and deteriorate over time. This line is polyurethane specifically formulated for fuel and oil transfer, and it stays flexible.
Why does hardware store fuel line fit loose on my Honda?
Most hardware store and auto parts fuel line is 1/4-inch (6mm) ID. Honda barbs are sized for 5.5mm ID line. That extra 0.5mm means the line does not grip the barb tightly, which leads to leaks — especially without clamps.
Do I need hose clamps with this fuel line?
The 5.5mm line fits snugly on Honda barbs and will hold without clamps in many cases. But for the best seal — especially on connections that get disconnected during service — we recommend adding squeeze-style hose clamps.
How much fuel line do I need?
One 3-foot length is enough for most twin-cylinder Hondas to plumb both carburetors and the tank crossover tube. For four-cylinder models (CB350F, CB400F, CB500, CB550, CB750) or bikes with long routing, you may need two lengths.
My CB175 / CL175 / CB200 connections seem smaller. Is this the right size?
Some connections on the 175/200 twins use a smaller 4.5mm fuel line. See the "CB175 / CL175 / CB200 Owners" section above for year-by-year details and how to measure your petcock barbs.
