Front brake stiff or sticky? After decades of dirt, moisture, and rust building up inside the housing, the original cable won't glide anymore. A new cable restores smooth, predictable front brake feel — and that's the difference between a controlled stop and a locked wheel.
The front drum brake cable on the CB350 / CL350 / SL350 is a wear item. The inner cable frays, the housing corrodes, and the whole assembly gets gummy. A fresh cable that glides smoothly gives you more stopping power because you can modulate the brake instead of fighting the lever. Pair it with new brake shoes and a power brake lever for the best front brake feel these bikes can deliver.
Available in two lengths — Standard and Long — and in Black or Gray. Choose the length that matches your handlebar setup.
Does NOT fit disc brake models: CB350G, CB360G/T, CB450 K3+, CB500T, CB550, CB750. Disc brake bikes don't use a cable — they have hydraulic lines.
Note on early models: Early CL175, CB350, CL350, CL450, and CB450 models used a brake cable with the brake light switch built into the cable assembly. That cable is no longer available. The workaround is to replace the lower half of the right-side switch box with a used unit from a later production bike that has the handlebar-mounted switch provision, or replace the switch box with a later CB450 right-side switch box and a new brake perch.
Difficulty: Beginner
Lubrication tip: Before installing, drip light oil into each end of the cable housing. Repeat once a year to keep the cable smooth and extend its life.
Standard (45.5" housing) fits stock handlebars. Long (49" housing) is for taller bars, pullback bars, or custom routing. Measure your current cable's housing length if you're not sure.
Only the CL360 and CJ360 (drum front brake). The CB360G and CB360T have disc front brakes and don't use a cable.
This cable doesn't include the integrated brake light switch. You'll need to convert to a handlebar-mounted brake light switch. See the note above for the conversion parts.
