Installation Tip: This is by far the dirtiest part of the engine so if you have not already, take a moment to clean up if it has been some time. When installing a fresh front sprocket retaining plate, slide your front sprocket onto the output shaft first. The retaining plate follows by sliding on a few degrees off of alignment until you reach the groove in the output shaft. With the retaining plate in the groove, rotate it to align the holes to the threaded holes in the front sprocket and install the bolts. Use a liberal amount of anti-seize lubricant on the threads to ensure this is easy to take apart next time. Finish the job by giving your chain and sprockets a nice cleaning and coating of Honda Chain Lube.
