Front Sprocket Retaining Plate | Honda CB175 / CB200 / CB350 / CB360 / CB450

If the front sprocket on your Honda is still in good shape and all you need is a fresh retaining plate, you are in the right place. These are genuine Honda front sprocket retaining plates, matching the OEM plates that came on the bike from the factory — sold individually, in the correct style for your model.

Why You Need This

The retaining plate is what holds the front sprocket on the output shaft: it has two holes that align with threaded holes in the front drive sprocket, and once bolted down it keeps the sprocket located on the shaft. A missing or mangled plate is a cheap fix — pick your model from the options above and the correct plate ships.

If your sprocket itself is worn — teeth thin and uneven — replace it rather than just the plate. See our front sprockets for the CB175 / CL175 / SL175 and the CB350 / CB360 / CB450.

Model-Specific Notes

  • CB175 / CL175 / SL175 / CB200 / CL200: Use the #4620 plate option (replaces OEM 95014-92100).
  • CB350 / CL350 / CB360 / CL360 / CJ360 / CB450 / CL450 / CB500T: Use the #4122 plate option (replaces OEM 23811-292-000).

Installation

Difficulty: Beginner

  1. This is by far the dirtiest part of the engine — if it has been a while, take a moment to clean the area up first.
  2. Slide the front sprocket onto the output shaft first.
  3. Slide the retaining plate on a few degrees off of alignment until it reaches the groove in the output shaft.
  4. With the plate in the groove, rotate it to align its holes with the threaded holes in the front sprocket, then install the bolts. Use a liberal amount of anti-seize on the threads so it comes apart easily next time.
  5. Finish the job by cleaning the chain and sprockets and giving them a coat of chain lube.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which plate do I need for my bike?

Pick your model in the options above and the right one ships: the #4620 plate covers the CB175 / CL175 / SL175 and CB200 / CL200, and the #4122 plate covers the CB350 / CL350, CB360 / CL360 / CJ360, CB450 / CL450, and CB500T.

Is this just the plate?

Yes — the plate by itself, sold individually. It bolts into the two threaded holes in the front drive sprocket.

Is this the bend-tab plate from our Sprockets 101 video?

No. The bend-up tab plate in that video lives on the rear sprocket. This is the front sprocket retaining plate — the flat plate that drops into the groove in the output shaft behind the engine's left cover.

My sprocket teeth look thin and pointed — do I need this or a new sprocket?

A new sprocket. Thin, uneven teeth mean the sprocket is worn out, and a fresh plate will not fix that. Grab the 175 family front sprocket or the 350 / 360 / 450 front sprocket and replace the plate while you are in there.
