Heidenau Tires | Honda CB175 / CL175 / SL175 / CB200 / CL200
The Honda CB175 / CL175 and CB200 twins use narrow 18" rims that most modern tire manufacturers have stopped building for. Heidenau makes tires in Germany in the exact OEM sizes your bike needs — with vintage tread patterns and modern rubber compounds that actually grip.
Why You Need This
If your CB175, CL175 or CB200 is still on its original tires, they're long overdue for replacement. Rubber from the 1970s has dried out, cracked, and lost all grip regardless of how the tread looks. These bikes are light enough that old tires might feel "fine" at low speeds — until you need to stop or corner and realize there's no traction left.
Heidenau has been manufacturing tires in Germany since the 1940s, specializing in motorcycle and scooter tires. Their vintage line is one of the few sources for tires in the 18" x 2.75" and 18" x 3.00" sizes that the CB175, CL175 and CB200 use. The ultra-sticky modern rubber compound delivers real grip on a bike that deserves better than 50-year-old factory rubber.

About Heidenau
Heidenau has been building tires in Germany since the 1940s, specializing in motorcycle and scooter tires distributed worldwide. They're one of the few manufacturers still producing tires in the narrow 18" sizes that the Honda 175 and 200 twins need.
Installation
Difficulty: Intermediate
- Remove the wheel from the motorcycle.
- Break the bead on the old tire using a bead breaker tool, then lever the tire off the rim with tire irons.
- Inspect the rim for damage — check for runout and bent spokes before mounting new rubber.
- Install a fresh rim strip before mounting the new tire.
- Mount the new tire with the balance dots (double red dots) aligned with the tube's valve stem. Pay attention to the rotational direction arrow on the sidewall.
- Use baby powder inside the tire and on the tube to ease installation and prevent pinching. Glass cleaner (like Windex) works as a lubricant between the tire and rim bead.
- Inflate the tire to approximately 25 psi before mounting the wheel on the bike to check for pinched tubes.
- Reinstall the wheel and torque the axle nut to spec.
Our tire change walkthrough covers the full process of mounting tires on vintage Honda spoke wheels — including tube installation, rim strips, bead work, and balance dots.
Frequently Asked Questions
What size tires does my CB175 / CB200 need?
The CB175 and CB200 both use 18" x 2.75" front and 18" x 3.00" rear. The CL175 and CL200 use the same sizes. The SL175 is different — it uses a 19" x 3.25" front and 18" x 3.50" rear. Check the fitment chart on this page for your specific model.
Can I run a bigger tire on the rear?
The OEM rear for the CB175/CB200 is 18" x 3.00". Some riders have fit 18" x 3.50" tires on the rear, but this is not a confirmed OEM fitment and may have clearance issues depending on your specific bike. Stick with the OEM sizes listed in the fitment chart unless you've confirmed clearance on your frame.
Do I need new inner tubes and rim strips?
Yes. Replace tubes and rim strips whenever you change tires. Old tubes crack and deteriorated rim strips expose spoke nipples that can puncture the new tube. We carry inner tubes in 18" and 19" sizes that fit the CB175 and CB200.
Are these the same tires as on the CB350/CB360 page?
Same brand (Heidenau), same German manufacturing, same quality — but this page is set up specifically for the CB175/CB200 tire sizes and fitment. The CB350/CB360 tire pages carry larger sizes. If you have a CB350 or larger, use those pages instead.
