Why You Need This

No top end rebuild is complete without a fresh set of valves. If you're rebuilding the cylinder head of a Honda CB175 / CL175 Scrambler / SL175 / CB200 / CL200 Scrambler, Common Motor offers these high-quality intake and exhaust valves to replace your worn out OEM valves.

Our Common Motor Collective "Airlock" valves are better than the OEM part, engineered and produced by CMC specifically for use in vintage Honda 175 and 200-series twins. To produce these valves, we worked closely with one of the top OEM engine valve manufacturers in the world to fabricate them using modern materials designed to outperform the originals.

Valve Specs:

  • Manufactured from Japanese JIS-standard SUH35 steel.
  • Coated with Tuffride plating.
  • Extra wide valve face to accommodate variations in worn valve seats to improve ease of lapping.
  • Stellite #1 coated (50-58 HRC) on the tip of the valves (extra hard for the tapping of the rocker arm tips) to prevent "mushrooming".

While replacing the valves, make sure to measure the valve guides and replace them if they're out of spec. While the head's off the engine, refresh everything with a set of new gaskets for your CB175 or CB200.

Installation Tip

Valve seats need to be inspected and touched up by a qualified machine shop if heavily pitted. Otherwise, you need to lap with the new valves to the old seats. Guides must be measured for excessive play or wear. Guides will need replacement before attempting to cut or lap valve seats. Honda 175 and 200-series twins use valve stem seals that should be changed when the valves are replaced if you are still using the factory-style iron valve guides.
