Honda CB550 BrakesThe Honda CB500K / CB550K all were equipped with a single disc hydraulic front brake and single pivot rear drum. All versions of the bikes use the same general configuration, with the length of the front upper hydraulic hose varying lengths depending on handlebar height. The CB550 disc brakes are notoriously found stuck from corrosion; a proper system overhaul involves a rebuilding the master cylinder, caliper, new brake pads and brake hoses. A rear rebuild will just need a cleaning and a fresh set of shoes.
