Service Gasket Kit | Honda CB200 / CL200
When routine service goes beyond an oil change — points cover off for timing, carbs off for an intake reseal, side cover off for stator or shifter work — these are the gaskets that come up next. The Service Kit is the middle tier in the CB200 family: everything in the Oil Change Kit (Gaskets A–F), plus four more covering the points cover, both intake manifold flanges, the left crankcase cover, and the top cam cover.
Why You Need This
Honda paper gaskets and O-rings are designed to be replaced, not reused. Even when you peel them off carefully, the original seal is compromised — paper compresses against the mating surface during the first install, and O-rings take a set. Reinstalling them invites a slow leak that drives you back into the same job a month later.
The Service Kit covers the gaskets disturbed during the standard mid-mileage service on a CB200 or CL200: setting the ignition timing (Points Cover Gasket, Letter G), resealing both intake manifold flanges after a carb pull (Intake Manifold Gaskets, Letter H), getting behind the left crankcase cover for stator, neutral switch, or gear shift drum work (Left Crankcase Cover Gasket, Letter I), and lifting the top cam cover for cam chain or top-end inspection (Top Cam Cover Gasket, Letter J). Letters A–F from the Oil Change Kit are included, so a routine oil service is folded in.

Note — Intake Manifold O-Rings: This kit includes two paper intake manifold gaskets (Letter H) but does NOT include separate intake manifold O-rings. The CB200 / CL200 manifold flange is sealed by the paper gasket alone — this is a real design difference from the CB175 family, where the Service Kit DOES include both gaskets and O-rings. If you are working on a CB175 / CL175 / SL175 you need the CB175 Service Gasket Kit instead. The two kits are not interchangeable.
Note — Replacement Manifolds Themselves: CMC does not stock new replacement CB200 / CL200 rubber intake manifolds. If your manifolds are torn or hardened, source used from a Facebook owners group or eBay, or check CB175 K3–K7 cross-fit before reinstalling. The flange gaskets in this kit reseal whatever manifold you put back on.
What's in the Kit
The Service Kit includes Gaskets A–J — 10 gasket types, 13 pieces. Gaskets A–F mirror the Oil Change Kit (#4179); Gaskets G–J are added for the Service tier:
- G — Points Cover Gasket (qty 1)
- H — Intake Manifold Gaskets (qty 2)
- I — Left Crankcase Cover Gasket (qty 1)
- J — Top Cam Cover Gasket (qty 1)

Installation
Difficulty: Intermediate — combines a routine oil service with carb removal, points service, and access to one or both side covers.
Service sequence (per our CB175 / CB200 tune-up videos):
- Oil service first (Letters A–F): Drain the oil warm, pull the right crankcase cover, clean the centrifugal filter rotor, replace the rotor cover bolt O-rings, oil pump gasket, drain plug O-ring, and right crankcase cover gasket. See our Oil Change Kit page for the full procedure.
- Points cover (Letter G): Pull the breather tube, remove the screws holding the contact breaker base plate, lift the plate, and inspect the spark advancer. Set point gap to 0.3–0.4 mm (0.012–0.016 in.) at the high spot of the advance cam. Set idle to 1,200 RPM warm.
- Intake manifold gaskets (Letter H): Pull the carburetors, unbolt the intake manifolds from the cylinder head, and reseal both flanges with the new paper gaskets. Reinstall the manifolds before reinstalling the carbs. This is also the right time to address vacuum leaks if you're chasing one.
- Left crankcase cover (Letter I): Drain residual oil, remove the cover bolts, lift the cover. Behind it: the AC generator (stator), neutral switch, and gear shift drum stopper. Common reasons to be there are stator or charging-system diagnosis, gear shift seal or shifter leak, neutral switch service, or as the route into the lower crankcase for a deeper teardown.
- Top cam cover (Letter J): If you are removing the cylinder head cover for cam chain inspection or top-end work, install the new gasket on reassembly. Torque the cap nuts in the sequence shown in Service Manual Fig. 3-21 to 180–220 kg-cm (13.0–16.0 ft-lbs).
Installation Tip: Remove any remaining gasket material or residue with a razor blade and wipe the surface clean with acetone. Lightly grease new gaskets when installing — they release cleanly next time instead of sticking and ripping.
Service interval (per CMC): Run the points / valve clearance / cam chain tune-up cycle every 1,500 miles alongside your oil change. Intake gaskets and side covers come up less often — typically when you're chasing a leak or doing a deeper service. Oil filter rotor gets cleaned every other oil change.
Our ignition timing walkthrough for the CB175 / CB200 family covers points cover removal, point-gap setting, and timing the spark — the procedure that disturbs the Letter G gasket.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does this kit include intake manifold O-rings?
No. The CB200 Service Kit includes two paper intake manifold gaskets (Letter H) but no separate O-rings. The CB200 / CL200 manifold flange is sealed by the paper gasket alone. If you are working on a CB175 / CL175 / SL175 the sibling kit DOES include intake manifold O-rings — order our CB175 Service Gasket Kit instead.
Will this kit fit my CB175, CL175, or SL175?
No. The CB175 family uses a different gasket set with a different Letter range and different physical sizes. Order our CB175 / CL175 / SL175 Service Gasket Kit for those bikes.
Which CB200 / CL200 gasket kit should I pick: 4179, 4180, or 4178?
It depends on the job. #4179 Oil Change Gasket Kit (Gaskets A–F) is for routine oil services. #4180 Service Gasket Kit (Gaskets A–J — this kit) adds the points cover, intake manifolds, left crankcase cover, and top cam cover gaskets for the standard mid-mileage service. #4178 Overhaul Gasket Kit (Gaskets A–V) adds head, cylinder base, exhaust, valve stem seals, dipstick O-ring, and the rest for a full engine teardown.
How often should I do a full service on my CB200 or CL200?
We recommend running the points / valve clearance / cam chain tune-up every 1,500 miles. Oil should be changed at the same interval, with the centrifugal filter rotor cleaned every other oil change. Service Manual idle spec is 1,200 RPM warm.
Can I reuse the original gaskets if they look OK?
No. Honda paper gaskets compress against the mating surface during the first install — pulling them off and refitting them produces a poor seal even if they look intact. O-rings take a set and won't return to their original shape. Replace every gasket and O-ring that you disturb.
What oil should I run after the service?
SAE 10W-40, 100% mineral. The CB200 has a wet clutch that shares oil with the engine — modern semi-synthetic and full-synthetic oils contain friction modifiers that cause clutch slip. Stay with conventional mineral oil. Total oil capacity is 1.7 L / 1.8 US qt.
