Angled Boot Pod Air Filters | Honda CB350 / CL350 / SL350
A missing, crumbling, or incomplete factory airbox is one of the most common problems on a long-parked CB350. The factory setup is a glued assembly of rubber boots, a filter element, metal covers, and a crossover rod — and once it's gone, the whole thing has to be replaced as a unit. These angled boot pod filters are the clean way to do it: a washable pair that fits under your factory battery box and side covers.
Why You Need This
The CB350, CL350, and SL350 run CV carburetors, and CV carbs are particular about what's bolted to their inlet. Many universal straight-boot pods block the air passages that drive the slide and diaphragm, which makes throttle response inconsistent. The angled boot acts like a runner, funneling air cleanly into the carb mouth the way the factory boot did — so the carbs work the way they were designed to. The filters are washable and reusable, so you clean them instead of hunting for paper elements that may no longer be made.
Because the boot is angled, the filters tuck into the tight space between the carburetors and the battery box, and you can rotate them to clear the factory side covers — so the bike keeps its original look without an airbox.

Installation
Difficulty: Intermediate
Tools needed: 10mm wrench, plus an M6 rod (about 10 3/4") to replace the factory crossover rod
- Remove the factory air filter assembly: take off the metal airbox cover, the long crossover rod that runs through the battery box, the top mounting bolt, and the boot clamp screw.
- Slide a pod boot onto each carburetor inlet, pushing it on as far as it will go.
- Clock the pods upward if you're running the factory side covers, then snug the clamp with the screw at the bottom for easy access. Do not over-tighten — squeezing the rubber pushes the filter off the end of the carburetor.
- Replace the factory crossover rod with a longer M6 rod (about 10 3/4") secured with lock nuts. This holds the side covers in place now that the air filter assemblies are gone. Fit new side cover grommets if the originals are brittle.
Support the carburetors. The factory airbox boots used to hold the carbs up. With them gone, hang a wire support over the frame attached to the front of each carburetor so the carbs don't pull out of the intake manifolds.

Jetting After Installation
Pods flow differently than the factory airbox, so plan to evaluate your carburetor jetting after the swap. Start with the factory jetting and adjust from there based on engine condition, exhaust, elevation, and climate. Our CB350 Main Jet Tuning Kit has the jets to dial it in.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to re-jet after installing pod filters?
Plan on it. Pods flow more air than the factory airbox, so the mixture changes. Start at the factory jetting and work up or down from there — the CB350 Main Jet Tuning Kit gives you the sizes to test.
Do these fit my SL350?
They fit the SL350 K0 (1969–1970). The SL350 K1 and K2 use a different carburetor than the rest of the 350 family, so confirm your model before ordering. If you have a K1 or K2, reach out and we'll point you to the right parts.
Can I keep my factory side covers?
Yes. Rotate the pods upward to clear the battery box, and use a longer M6 crossover rod to hold the side covers securely now that the factory air filter assemblies are gone.
Are these filters washable?
Yes. Wash them, then air dry — do not oil them.
