Angled Boot Pod Air Filters | Honda CB360 / CL360 / CJ360
A missing or crumbling factory airbox is one of the most common problems on a long-parked CB360 — and the threaded crossover rod and rubber seals that hold the assembly together are almost always lost during old carb work. These angled boot pod filters are the clean replacement: a washable pair that tucks under your factory battery box and side covers.
Why You Need This
The CB360, CL360, and CJ360 run CV carburetors, and CV carbs are particular about their inlet. Many universal straight-boot pods block the air passages that drive the slide and diaphragm, which makes throttle response inconsistent. The angled boot funnels air cleanly into the carb mouth the way the factory boot did, so the carbs behave the way they were designed to. The filters are washable and reusable — you clean them instead of hunting for paper elements that may no longer be made.
The angled shape lets the filters fit in the tight space between the carburetors and the battery box, and you keep the factory side covers.

Installation
Difficulty: Intermediate
- Disconnect the negative battery terminal before you start — you'll be moving the battery box.
- Remove the factory air filter assembly, then unbolt the battery box and slide it rearward about one inch to open up clearance for the left-side filter.
- Slide a pod boot onto each carburetor inlet, pushing it on as far as it will go. Align the boot seam to the center of the choke-shaft pivot and make sure the boot is fully seated on the carb before you clamp it.
- Slide the battery box back into position, then snug each clamp with the screw at the bottom. Do not over-tighten — squeezing the rubber pushes the filter off the end of the carburetor.
Seat the carburetors fully. Before tightening anything, make sure each carburetor is fully seated on its intake manifold — the manifold edge should be buried in the casting. The CB360 is prone to carbs that don't seat all the way, especially with old, stiff manifolds, so fresh manifolds make the whole job easier.

Do I have to move the battery box to fit these on a CB360?
Yes — and it's normal. The left carburetor sits tight against the battery box, so you unbolt the box and slide it rearward about an inch to install the filter, then slide it back into place. It's not a permanent relocation. Disconnect the negative battery terminal first.
The filters keep popping off the carburetor — what am I doing wrong?
Two things usually cause it: over-tightening the clamp (which squeezes the rubber off the carb) and a boot that isn't clocked or fully seated. Seat the boot all the way onto the carb, align the seam to the choke-shaft center, and snug the clamp just enough to hold — don't crank it down.
Do I need to re-jet after installing pod filters?
Plan on it. Pods flow more air than the factory airbox, so the mixture changes. Start at factory jetting and work from there — the CB360 Main Jet Tuning Kit gives you the sizes to test.
Can I keep my factory side covers?
Yes. The angled boot is designed to clear the side covers, so the bike keeps its original look.
