Lower Allen Bolt Kit | Honda CB360 / CL360 / CJ360
The factory Phillips head screws on the Honda 360 engine side covers strip out — it's practically inevitable. Every time you pull a cover for routine service, you risk rounding another head. This stainless steel Allen bolt kit replaces all the lower engine cover fasteners with socket head cap screws that won't strip and look clean doing it. Allen wrenches included.
Why You Need This
Honda used Phillips head screws on all the 360-series engine covers. They corrode, they strip, and they make routine maintenance harder than it needs to be. Allen (socket head) bolts grip positively with an Allen wrench — no cam-out, no stripped heads, no frustration. Stainless steel resists corrosion and keeps your engine looking sharp.
This is the Lower kit — it covers the side covers (left and right), chain cover, and rotor cover. The optional Upper Allen Bolt Kit is available as a checkbox add-on and covers the points cover, valve cover/rocker arm cover, breather cover, and tachometer cable.

Installation
Difficulty: Beginner
- Remove the old Phillips screws with an impact driver — this prevents stripping the heads on removal.
- Clean the threaded holes in the engine cases.
- Apply anti-seize compound to the threads of the new Allen bolts.
- Thread the bolts in by hand first, then tighten with the included Allen wrench.
- Do not over-tighten — Honda specs the crankcase cover bolts at 0.7–1.1 kg-m (5.1–8.0 lb-ft).
Tip: If you're pulling covers for service, grab a CB360 Service Gasket Kit so you have fresh gaskets ready to go.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does this kit cover all the engine bolts on my CB360?
No — this is the Lower kit only. It covers the side covers, chain cover, and rotor cover. The Upper Allen Bolt Kit (available as an add-on at checkout) covers the points cover, valve cover, breather cover, and tachometer cable.
Will this fit my CL360 or CJ360?
Yes. The CB360, CL360, and CJ360 all share the same lower engine cover bolt pattern. This kit fits all years: CB360G (1974), CB360T (1975–1976), CL360 (1974–1975), and CJ360T (1976–1977).
What torque should I use on these bolts?
Honda specifies 0.7–1.1 kg-m (5.1–8.0 lb-ft) for the crankcase cover bolts. Use anti-seize on the threads and don't over-tighten — these thread into aluminum cases.
Can I reuse my old gaskets when swapping the bolts?
If the gaskets are in good shape, you can reuse them for a simple bolt swap. If you're doing a full service while the covers are off, replace the gaskets with a Service Gasket Kit or Overhaul Gasket Kit.
