A missing or deteriorated airbox is a common issue in older or long-neglected classic Hondas. Replacing the entire airbox can be costly and factory-style filter elements may be unavailable. Our solution is pod-style air filters with an angled boot, allowing for the retention of the factory battery box and fitting under the side covers. These filters also mimic the function of a velocity stack, facilitating proper airflow for the CV-style carbs on Honda CB450 / CL450 / CB500T models. The filters are washable and require main jet tuning for adjusted airflow.
Pod filters fit snugly on the carburetors and next to the battery box. Ensure a secure fit without over-tightening the clamp to prevent the filter from popping off. Experiment with the filter orientation for the best fit. Filters should be air-dried after washing and not oiled. To support the weight of the carburetors on the manifolds due to the absence of factory air box support, consider using a wire hanger over the frame of the bike attached to the front end of each carburetor.
