Part: Ignition Key Switch for Honda CB550K (Late Model 77-78) / CB550F / CB750K (77-78) / CB750F / CB750A Hondamatic
Why You Need This: Lost the keys to your dad's CB550F? Snapped one of in your custom CB550K? Stop wasting time looking for replacement keys and codes. This is a direct bolt-in replacement for the original Honda CB550 / CB750 ignition switch, complete with two keys. It has a lock position with a physical tamper-proof locking mechanism.
NOTE: We have found that the plastic used on the switch housing is more flexible than the original. Thus the retaining tabs that hold it to the metal body can pop out of place and are difficult to reinstall. We suggest using some epoxy to bond the plastic housing to the edge of the metal body of the switch assembly to ensure the parts stay together.
Installation Tip: Clean the terminals of the connector plug on the wiring harness with some rubbing alcohol and fine steel wool, you might need to pop them out with a small screwdriver, depending on how crusty they are. If you're wiring this switch up from scratch it's wise to look at the factory service manual for your specific sub-model. Here's the pinout and generally what-goes-where - Looking at the pins on the switch - 3 on top, 2 on bottom:
