Installation Tip: Save a few bucks and check out our Electric Starter Removal Kit which includes this plug and also the rotor puller which is necessary to remove the clutch and drive gear, yes they both need to be removed. Also, the starter drive chain, drive gear and starter clutch must also be removed. Rotor must be torqued back into place with torque wrench, rotor can be held with an automotive oil filter wrench. The solenoid and accompanying wires can also be removed from the electrical system.
