Part: Ignition Contact Points for Honda CT90 / Trail 90
Why You Need This: Exact ignition timing for your Honda CT90 / Trail 90 is key for easy starting and worn points are not doing you any favors. Switching out pitted or tired points for a new set with fresh surfaces will ensure your CT90 engine will run to its full capability. Contact points are a wear and tear item and tattered ones make it very difficult to set ignition timing correctly.
Note: The type of points you need will be specific to the points plate installed in your CT90 / Trail 90. Honda used two different style points plates and points concurrently during production.
Installation Tip: Take time to inspect the advance mechanism behind the point plate and check if it is working smoothly. Set gap of the points to 0.012" at the highest mark of the points cam, there will be a small tick mark on the outer circufrance, the retaining bolt and washer will need to be removed to see it. Here at Common Motor, we set the points timing using a test light (not to be confused with strobe style timing light). Once the gap is set, adjust the timing. Dab a small amount of grease on the points cam to extend the life of the rubbing blocks. Ignition timing
