Piston Pin with C-Style Clips for Honda CT90 - "Trail 90" Motorcycles
There comes a time in every vintage Honda CT90's life when an engine overhaul is due. Thankfully, not every top-end job means replacing pistons. If your Trail 90's cylinder still measures within Honda's published service limits, a simple hone and a new set of piston rings may be all that is needed to bring your engine back to it's top shape. While you have the top engine and piston apart, make sure to take a good look at your piston pin (also called gudgeon pin). Often times, we find them worn with grooves from the connecting rod, especially on older engines. The surface of the wrist pin should be perfectly smooth - any wear or grooving means it's time for a replacement.
Many wrist pins you find on the market have the correct diameter but come up short in length. This causes the pin to float in the piston, which can work the retaining clips loose, leading to serious engine damage. Our CMC piston pin kit for the Honda CT90 K0-K8 & CT90 '78-'79 solves this problem with the correct dimensions for a secure fit.
Each kit includes one wrist pin with two "C" style retaining clips (these should be changed out every time they are removed). Our piston pins are designed for the original cast pistons found in the Honda CT90 / Trail 90 engine. They will work with NOS Honda and our very own CMC "Pulsar" oversize pistons as well.
