Part: Honda Gauge Cushion & Mounting Washer Kit
Why You Need This: Originally both the speedometer and tachometer on your Honda CB350 / CB360 / CB450 / CB500 K0-K1 were mounted to their respective places with some rubber cushioning. The purpose of this cushion was to isolate the gauges from the rest of vibrations on the bike so that you can actually see the needle on the face of the gauge. The cushion that holds each gauge are very prone to deterioration over the years and are often found to have melted into goo. If either of your gauges are flopping around in the chrome mounting cups then it is the indication that the cushion needs to be swapped out. Both the speedometer and tachometer are mounted via two studs which are shimmed up with two special stepped rubber washers that have likely fallen apart with time.
Our gauge cushion & mounting washer kit contains a single gauge cushion and two mounting washers to fix one gauge on your Honda CB350 / CB360 / CB450 / CB500K. Each gauge will require one kit and they work on either speedometer or the tachometer. While you have the gauges out it is also a good opportunity to inspect and replace any burnt out instrument light bulbs as they must be accessed with the gauges removed.
Installation Tip: The gauge cushion is notched on the bottom side to clear the trip meter reset knob for the speedometer, make sure to orient it correctly. When mounting the gauge to the chrome cup, tighten the nuts until they are evenly snug but not too tight as the studs that are built into the gauge can sheer off. Since the whole assembly is rubber mounted you will not ever feel the nuts get super tight, just even resistance and that is where you stop.
