Part: Late Style Right Side Handlebar Switch Box for always-on headlight circuits motorcycles. Compatible with Honda CB360T / CB500T / CB550K, CB550F / CB750K, CB750F motorcycles.
Why You Need This: The right-side handlebar switch box on the Honda CB360T / CB500T / CB550K, CB550F / CB750K, or CB750F is a difficult piece to try to do without on your motorcycle. With it housing the kill switch, throttle assembly, starter button, and headlight disconnect circuit for when the starter is engaged, it contains several crucial functions to how your vintage Honda operates. This style switch has a few variations depending on wire length, throttle style, and harness connector but since most OEM Honda switches are entirely unavailable, this new reproduction does a great job as a replacement. Refresh old worn-out parts on your right controls by adding the nylon throttle sleeve and a pair of throttle cables to the mix. Stock switch boxes ran the wires inside the handlebars and while you can still do that this switch box is notched on the bottom half of the casting for running wires on the outside of non-drilled handlebars (such as our superbike bars). Note that this switch is not drilled for a location pin but clamps on the handlebars with sufficient force to no longer need this.
*CB360T: This always-on headlight version differs slightly from the version included on the CB360T models (frame serial number CB360-2100001 and up). Instead of using a starter button that grounds the circuit when pressed, it uses a button that feeds 12v positive power to the starter solenoid when pressed. Because of this, if you want to use this switch on your CB360T, you will need to disconnect the black 12v positive wire from your starter solenoid and run a wire to connect it to the dark green / red wire to provide ground to the solenoid. This dark green / red wire was connected to the original right handlebar switch used on these models and provides ground through the clutch safety switch or neutral light circuit so the motorcycle cannot be started in gear.
Installation Tip: If running the wires inside the handlebars, use a piece of string to pull the wires through the factory handlebars. A bit of window cleaner or soapy water will help lubricate the wires as you are pulling them through the inside of the handlebars. Lubricate the nylon throttle sleeve with a mixture of light oil and grease in a slurry to keep the throttle assembly working butter smooth.
Switch Wiring Configuration: The wiring of these switches can be slightly different from the original factory unit. The length of the wiring harness on this switch is 36" in length.
1977-1978 CB550K / CB750K / CB750F: The stock right handlebar switch originally came with a 4 pins plastic white harness connector whereas new ones come with bullet connectors. You have two choices, you can either pick up a 4-pin white harness connector or cut off the factory harness connector on the motorcycle to crimp on new bullet connectors. These replacement switch wires are 13" longer than stock so there is plenty of room to make the change how you prefer. If you go the route of installing the plastic white harness connector, keep in mind modern versions of this connector are slightly different and you will need both sides of the connector, not just one onto the new switch.
CB360T / CB500T: The original switch had two black 12V+, as well as the yellow and white/yellow wires going to the switch to jump the two sides of the stator together when the headlight was turned on. These should be joined together thus bypassing the switch and activating both sides of the stator coil at all times.
