Part: Tapered Roller Steering (headset) Bearings for Honda CB350 / CB360 / CB450 / CB500 / CB550 / CB750

Why You Need This: The original ball style steering (headset) bearings have probably never been serviced since your Honda CB350 / CB360 / CB450 / CB500 / CB550 / CB750 rolled off the factory floor. After years of neglect they can become rusty, out of round, pitted or even caked full of dirt, therefore making your Honda CB350, CB360, CB450, CB500, CB550, or CB750 difficult to steer. A new set of steering bearings will make your bike's steering smoother and predictable under all road conditions. Our steering bearing conversion kit replaces the ball style headset bearings and races with a high performance tapered roller bearings for the smoothest steering your Honda will ever have. Kit comes with both upper and lower bearings and races along with dust shields and spacers. Also, we offer a caged ball steering bearing set is a budget alternative. Add a fresh set of our polyurethane Space Capsule handlebar dampers and rear shocks and your Honda will ride smoother and predictable under all road conditions.

Installation Tip: The original ball races will have to be removed from the frame and triple tree stem before installing the tapered roller set. A long punch and stout hammer will make this much easier. Pack bearings well with grease prior to installing. A shim spacer washer is used under the lower steering bearing and seal. Use the thinner of the two spacers on Honda applications, the small-diameter washer is not used. The bearings will have to be readjusted (typically gently tightened) after the first ride as the parts settle and the steering will feel looser than previously.

Mr
I replaced the original bearings on both my CL350s with these and it made the huge difference in the stability and handling of both bikes. Easy to install, especially if you watch their video on how to do it.

Tapered steering bearings
Excellent kit. Brendon’s instructional video on YouTube makes it impossible to screw up. Kudos for using tools us basement wrenches use. Only question i have is what is the torque value for to top nut?

Bike Builder
I got these nice new tapered roller steerer bearings to replace the factory ball bearings in my 1972 Honda CB500 Four. Although I've replaced bearings before, Brenden's video was a great primer for this specific set. He offered some great tips, like putting the races in the freezer before installing. The parts arrived quickly and fit perfectly - exactly as advertised. You do have to be a little careful installing the races - they can chip easily if you hit them too hard. A dead blow hammer and piece of scrap wood helps to avoid any damage. Overall a great product - as I've come to expect from CMC.
