Part: Locking Tank Latch for Honda CB175 / CL175 / CB200 / CL200 / CB350 / CL350 / CB360 / CL360 / CB450 / CL450 /  CB500K / CB550 / CB750 motorcycles.

Why You Need This: The locking tank latch was a dealer offered option back in the day. That is why you will see an original one every now and then on a CB350, CB360 or CB450. In fact this latch will fit any Honda gas tank that uses the flip style gas cap. It is also the perfect solution if you are missing the original tank latch or if the latch on your tank is broken. Additionally, this locking tank latch will work with any Honda key. So if you have changed out the CB360 key switch or CB350 / CB450 key switch, you will be OK. While you are at it might as well change out that cracked gas cap seal and get some fresh front (CB350/360) (CB450) and rear tank rubbers to hold your tank in place.

Installation Tip: The original tank latch must be removed in order to install the locking tank latch. Use a very small punch to tap out the retaining pin / rivet. The new latch installs with a very thin screw, make sure to put a little anti-seize on the threads so that it can be removed in the future. Keep the lock and latch lubricated so it will not become jammed.

This tank latch is a fine replacement for the stock one which has quite a few cast aluminum parts with approximately twice the strength of meringue. Do be careful fiddling with the latch when you first get it as it can be easy to over-rotate the lock and have the pin slide too far, releasing the spring. It took me an hour to figure out how it worked and put the spring back in. At one point it shot out and hit me in the forehead. That's when I knew I was on the right track. Wonderful product.

A real lifesaver. Original piece broke and was having to use a screwdriver to open gas cap. This is better than the original button.

The locking tank latch matched the original so it went in perfectly and operates to my expectations. Thanks for letting me know they had become available again after they had gone out of stock.
