Part: Ignition Condenser (Universal)
Why You Need This: The ignition condenser is one of the most failure-prone parts of the ignition system. Even if your vintage Honda looks to be in great condition, condensers still wear out. Unlike most wear parts, they do not physically move, but as a key part of the ignition system, condensers see a lot of use. The condenser keeps the points from wearing out and keeps the ignition coil charged at high speed. A failing condenser will let the motorcycle idle OK, but tends to keep it from revving very high. Other signs of a bad condenser are burnt points that do not last very long (few hundred miles) before they need replacement.
Note: This condenser is ONLY for battery based ignition systems and WILL NOT work on magneto ignition systems. One condenser is needed for one set of points.
Installation Tip: The condenser should be wired in between the positive connection of the coil and points wire. Use the M6 size hole to mount the condenser to your project. The mounting tab will ground the condenser, so insure that where it mounts gives the condenser a solid connection to the frame or harness ground.
