Metric Internal thread chaser / restorer 6pc set for M6 to M12-sized threaded holes.
Thread restorers aka thread chasers are an excellent addition to any toolbox. They allow you to clean dirt, corrosion, and rust out of threaded holes and to reform lightly damaged or cross threaded holes. They're also good for cleaning excess blasting media from the threads after bead/sand/vapor blasting. Each individual thread chaser is made of hardened, cadmium-plated steel and features a flat end that allows the tool to reach the bottom of blind holes. The tool heads are standard six-point heads for use with a socket or box end wrench. Our kit includes six thread chasers in the following sizes:
If you are looking for external threaded stud chasers, we have them available here.
NOTE: Thread chasers are for cleaning threads or restoring lightly damaged threads only. Do not use this tool to cut new threads or repair heavily damaged or stripped threads.
The M12 x 1.25 tool can be used to clean the spark plug threads on the following vintage Honda models: CT90 / CB100 / CL100 Scrambler / SL100 / CB125 / CL125 Scrambler / SL125 / CB175 / CL175 Scrambler / SL175 / CB200 / CL200 Scrambler / CB350F / CB400F Supersport / CB500K / CB550 / CB750.
Use a touch of light oil on the tool when using it to clean / restore threads. If using to clean or straighten spark plug hole threads, apply some white lithium grease to collect debris on the chaser and keep them from falling into the combustion chamber. Use a 6 point socket on the tool's hex end to ensure proper grip and control. This is a tool that requires feel for proper use, and mild resistance is normal. Never force a chaser, or you may cause more damage than good. For every 2 full turns in, reverse the chaser by 1/2 turn to break any debris loose and collect in the flutes of the chaser. Take your time and remove and clean frequently; it may take more than one pass to fully clean the threads of a given hole.
