Mitas Vintage Street Motorcycle Tire | Honda CB175 / CL175 / CB200 / CL200 / CB350 / CL350 / CB360 / CL360 / CJ360

It is an ongoing challenge to source vintage style tires that properly match 60's & 70's era Honda rims. Contemporary sizing standards have shifted away from the 18" wheel diameter dimensions found on all many of the vintage bikes from that era. Based in Solvenia, Mitas tires are designed in Europe and produced under strict manufacturing standards in factories across the globe. The Mitas Vintage Street tires, made in India, are specifically for classic motorcycles — retro tread patterns with modern production standards and budget friendly price-point.

Why You Need This

If your bike is still rolling on original rubber from the 70's, it's time for them to go, they’re done. Even with tread left, rubber that’s 40–50 years old has dried out, hardened, and lost all grip. Tires are what separate you from the road — old ones, will not do the job.

The Mitas Vintage Street tires come in two tread patterns:

  • Block pattern — reminiscent the original factory street look on CB175, CB200, CB350 & CB360 models. A geometric tread that works on the front or rear (uni-directional).
  • Ribbed pattern — a front-only tire with the classic longitudinal grooves you see on vintage CB front wheels.

While the designs match period CB tires, they are also suitable replacements for a CL “Scrambler” that is used for street riding.

These are tube-type tires, “P” speed rated to 93 mph (150 km/h). We suggest using these on the smaller to mid sized Honda twin cylinder bikes; we do not recommend these tires to be used on the larger displacement twin or 4 cylinder bikes.

About Mitas

One of Europe’s leading motorcycle tire brands with a decades-long tradition in the motorcycle tire industry. Dating back to 1947, Mitas began to manufacture motorcycle tires for speedway applications. With their own central laboratory and in-house R&D, Mitas formulates high-quality product materials / compounds with innovative technologies that ensure outstanding performance. All tires pass rigorous testing procedures before they are launched to the market.

Installation

Difficulty: Intermediate

  1. Remove the wheel from the motorcycle. For the rear, remove the chain guard, cotter pin, and axle nut.
  2. Break the bead on the old tire using a bead breaker tool, then lever the tire off the rim with tire irons.
  3. Inspect the rim for damage — check for run-out and bent spokes before mounting new rubber.
  4. Mount the new tire with the balance dots aligned (if present) with the tube’s valve stem. Pay attention to the rotational direction arrow on the sidewall.
  5. Use baby powder inside the tire and on the tube to ease installation and prevent pinching. Glass cleaner (like Windex) works as a lubricant between the tire and rim bead.
  6. Inflate the tire to approximately 25 psi before mounting the wheel on the bike — this lets you check for pinched tubes before everything is buttoned up.
  7. Reinstall the wheel and torque the axle nut to spec.

Our tire change walk through covers the full process of mounting tires on vintage Honda spoke wheels — including tube installation, rim strips, bead work, and balance dots.

Block pattern tires can be used front or rear and they are uni-directional. Ribbed pattern tires are front use only.

Our Mitas Vintage Street tire overview covers the block and ribbed tread patterns, sizing, and what makes these tires different from stock originals. Mitas Vintage Street tires do not feature balance dots, tires should be balanced after installation.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the difference between the block and ribbed tread?

The block pattern has a flat, geometric tread — it’s a classic look reminiscent of designs came stock on CB175, CB200, CB350 & CB360 rear wheels. Block tires work in both front and rear positions. The ribbed pattern has longitudinal grooves and is designed specifically for the front wheel — it’s the classic front-tire look on many vintage CBs. Choose ribbed for the front and block for the rear for the most period-correct setup.

What size do I need for my CB175 / CB350 / CB360?

OEM front tire for the CB175 is a 18" x 2.75, rear is 18" x 3.00", however the 18" x 3.25" block should have you covered out back. CB350 and CB360 is 18" x 3.00" and OEM rear is 18" x 3.50". This exact front size is not available, but putting a slightly wider tire up front is a realistic solution. For a Vintage Street setup, a common combination is the 18" x 3.25" ribbed or block in front and the 18" x 3.50" block in the rear. Check the compatibility chart on this page for confirmed front/rear fitment by model.

Do I need new inner tubes and rim strips too?

Yes. If your tubes and rim strips are as old as your tires, replace them together. Old tubes crack and deteriorated rim strips expose spoke nipples that can puncture the new tube. We carry inner tubes in 18" and 19" sizes, and our balance bead kit simplifies home tire balancing — the beads automatically balance the tire and last the life of the tread.

Can I mix Vintage Street tires with Scrambler tires?

Yes. A common combination is a Vintage Street Block on the front with a Vintage Scrambler on the rear; or Vintage Scrambler up front and a Block Street out back. As long as each tire is mounted in the correct rotational direction, mixing Mitas Vintage patterns is acceptable.
