Tool: "The Outer Rim Tire" Bead Holder for Honda CB175, CL175, SL175 / CB200, CL200 / CB350, CL350, SL350 / CB360, CL360, CJ360 / CB450, CL450, CB500T / CB500K, CB550K CB550F / CB750 motorcycles.

Why You Need This: While out on a road trip a few years back we came across a version of this same type of tool used to hold the tire bead in place when prying a tire bead back on the rim. More specifically it holds the first part of the tire bead down in place on the inside of the rim and keeps it from popping up over the edge of the rim while prying the rest of the tire bead over the rim. We found it to be super handy and effective, especially when replacing an inner tube while on the side of the road with shorty tire levers (also it is super small and light). We were amazed how well it worked and how much easier it made tire / tube changes, we decided to make our own version of it.

Introducing "The Outer Rim" Tire bead holder tool! This is a Common Motor exclusive tool, made from extruded anodized aluminum with nylon lock nut to keep from scratching the rim. "The Outer Rim" is super handy and is recommended to be kept in your road tool kit, for mobile tire changes or even as part of your standard tire change kit.  We also offer "The Outer Rim" as part of a deluxe tire lever set.

Installation Tip: Once your tube is installed in the tire and the stem is threaded through the rim (our Tire Tamer Tool makes quick work of this) you are ready to use "The Outer Rim" tire bead holder. Pry the first section of tire over the rim, slide the open end of the bead holder on to the edge of the rim and clamp it in place using the nylon thumb screw. Lubricate and continue to work the tire bead over the rim until the tire is fully seated on the rim.  It is very important to start the tire bead at least 90 degrees away from the valve stem; trying to pry the tire bead over the rim at or near the valve stem is very difficult if it is the last few inches of tire to be installed.
