Why You Need This

The old-style, individual voltage regulators and rectifiers are common weak points on classic Honda twins. That’s why we offer this affordable, easy-to-install regulator/rectifier combo. Replacing your old, worn units with this modern replacement is the single best electrical system upgrade you can make to your Honda CB175 / CL175 / SL175 / CB200 / CL200 / CB350 / CL350 / SL350 / CB360 / CL360 / CJ360 / CB450 / CL450 / CB500T.

Installation Tip

This unit replaces both the factory regulator and rectifier. Depending on the bike you are working on, the new regulator rectifier can be mounted to the original voltage regulator bracket by elongating the holes with a round file. To install, simply unplug the old voltage regulator and rectifier and plug the new unit into the loom. If your bike has the round-style connection plug like many CB450s, then the old plug on the harness must be cut off and the new connector included with the unit must be plugged in. We highly recommend soldering the new leads into the system rather than just crimping on the connectors. The sole black wire connects where the black wire from the voltage regulator was connected to the harness. Some early bikes do not have a voltage regulator, only a rectifier. If you're unsure if this unit will work with your battery, check our battery FAQ.

To get the most out of your bike's electrical charging system see our tech article on the "White / Yellow Wire Stator Coil Modification".

Wiring Notes CB450 K0 models:

The CB450 K0 has the same setup as the later bikes but the wiring colors are different from the stator coil to the new regulator rectifier. Additionally, these bikes did not have a voltage regulator.

  • Brown from stator - connect to Pink on rectifier
  • Yellow and pink from stator, combine together - connect to Yellow on rectifier
  • 12V switched on positive - to black on rectifier (voltage regulator connection)

This part replaced the original melted down red one. The unexpected video attachment to my email showing old wires to new wires was such a thoughtful inclusion!! Thanks Common motors, above and beyond all our expectations - we wish you many years of success!!

Crazy easy to install. This item required simply pulling the old and replacing with new. Common point of failure in old CB/CL's.

Seller was extremely helpful and even offered advice on another issue I was having. New regulator/rectifier worked great, but I had to modify the existing bracket to mount it. Since it is not an original part, this was understandable.
