Replacement Throttle Cables for Honda CT90 - "Trail 90" Motorcycles
Throttle cables provide a direct connection between you and your motorcycle's engine, which is why it is crucial they remain in top shape. Over time, they can become frayed, sticky or rusted stuck inside the housing - this is especially true on older bikes, like a vintage Honda Trail 90. If the throttle on your Honda CT90 doesn't snap back when you release the grip, it's a sign that your cable needs replacing.
Our high quality throttle cables make the replacement simple, restoring smooth operation on your vintage Honda CT90. Be sure to select the one that fits your specific "K" series when adding it to the cart.
*Note: These cables do not come with the internal throttle cable grommet - be sure to select the optional add-on, if yours is missing.
Honda CT90 K2-K5 models use an internal handlebar slide mechanism with the right side throttle tube. Be sure to have all corrosion and burrs removed with plenty lube to keep the moving parts sliding freely. We find that a mixture of grease and marvel mystery oil makes a nice thin lubricant.
Honda CT90 K6 & Honda CT90 '76-'79 models use an external throttle cable running to a more typical throttle tube design. Grease thinned out with marvel mystery oil makes a great lubricant for between the throttle tube and handlebars here as well.
All new cables will need to be lubricated before installation. A quality motorcycle cable lube or marvel mystery oil works great. Watch our Cables 101 video for more information on cable installation and care.
