The brake shoes, especially, require occasional inspection and, if sufficiently worn, replacement. If you're still running the shoes your bike came from the factory with, chances are you are, you should replace your old shoes with new, more modern parts.Common Motor offers these brand new, OEM-style brake shoes for your 450 or 500T-series twin. Made of modern, high-quality materials, our brake shoes come in two versions—Premium Grade and Service Grade.When ordering these brake shoes, please choose from the following options:Premium Grade: Feature organic friction material.Service Grade: Feature semi-metallic friction material for increased stopping power.NOTE: Service Grade brake shoes do not come with springs. You will need to retain your OEM springs for use with the new shoes.Installation TipClean the brake drum and mounting plate well with brake cleaner and apply a light coat of brake caliper grease to the shoe pivot point and cam. Make sure to wipe up any excess and keep it away from the friction surface. Clean up the inside of the drum with a wire wheel, wire brush, or some 80 grit sandpaper to remove any rust or glaze on the surface. Use new cotter pins when installing the brake shoes.
